We offer an exciting reindeer hunt in the scenic terrain of Nuuk Fjord. Hunting an old, strong reindeer bull in this stunning natural setting is a dream for many hunters.

The summer reindeer hunt takes place from August 1st to October 31st. Early in the season, the reindeer are high up in the mountains, and you should expect to work extra hard to get within shooting range. As the season progresses, the reindeer move lower, with fewer mosquitoes and flies, which brings them closer to the coast. Temperatures can range from +10ºC at the start of the season to around -10ºC at the end. As elsewhere, the weather can be changeable with rain, sleet, and even snow, but often clear sunshine as well. At the beginning of the season, the bulls are still in velvet, but from mid-September onwards the trophies are fully shed and have a rich color. In October, trophy bulls may not be hunted.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Nuuk
Upon arrival in Nuuk, you will be welcomed by the team. The day is spent checking into the hotel and preparing for the upcoming hunting days. There will also be time to visit local shops and pick up any last necessities before heading to the fjord.

Day 2 – Departure to camp and first hunt
Early in the morning, you sail from Nuuk to the hunting camp – either Camp Itivi or Camp Kangiusaq, depending on season and conditions. The journey is made in a closed Targa boat and takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. Upon arrival, the crew helps unload all equipment and luggage. Once hunters are settled in the camp, the first hunt of the day takes place in the surrounding fjord terrain.

Day 3 – Second hunting day
The entire day is dedicated to hunting. You will move on foot through mountain areas and use a dinghy to scout along the coastline. Our experienced guides adjust pace and routes according to conditions, providing new opportunities and experiences each day.

Day 4 – Third hunting day
Another full day of hunting in the fjord’s hinterland. Hunting continues in different areas, selected based on observations and weather conditions. In the evening, the group gathers in camp for a good meal and a cozy evening with views over the fjord.

Day 5 – Final hunt and return to Nuuk
Depending on the group’s wishes, the morning can be used for the last hunt before sailing back to Nuuk. The return journey is in the same boat as arrival. Upon reaching the city, check into the hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening in comfort.

Day 6 – Departure
After breakfast, you leave Nuuk. Thank you for joining us – see you again in Greenland.

Travel

Flights to Greenland are direct from Copenhagen to Nuuk, taking approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes. Due to the 3-hour time difference, you arrive about 1 hour and 45 minutes later than your departure time from Denmark. Upon arrival in Greenland, further travel may continue by domestic flight to destinations such as Kangerlussuaq or Ilulissat.

The Hunt

Hunting in Greenland is a very different experience from hunting in Denmark or Central Europe, and especially unlike trophy hunting in Africa or other major destinations. Here, it is the wind, weather, and animals that decide, and we are the guests. In the hunting areas, there is virtually no infrastructure, which requires proper safety equipment and signaling devices.

The terrain is very hilly, and you must be able to hike 10–20 km per day with up to 1000 meters of elevation gain. You should also expect to carry your reindeer down from the mountain. A large bull can weigh 75–100 kg. Good, well-broken-in hiking boots and sensible hunting clothing that can handle snow, rain, sleet, as well as sun and heat, are essential. Weather can change rapidly, so incorrect clothing can quickly become a problem. Hunting is open to everyone in Greenland, meaning you may encounter local hunters. To minimize this, our hunts are scheduled on weekdays whenever possible.

The terrain is very open, so expect to shoot at slightly longer distances than in Denmark. It is advisable to practice at distances of up to 200–250 meters, if possible. The minimum caliber allowed for trophy hunting is 243 WIN. Soft-point ammunition is not required but recommended.

Hunting Dates 2026:
September 7–12, 2026
September 14–19, 2026
Each group is limited to 4 hunters. Single hunters or smaller groups are welcome to register.
