The Masailand hunting areas of Lake Natron and Enduimet are located in the magnificent Rift Valley, close to the Kenyan border. This remarkable region offers a truly special safari experience, where classic East African hunting is combined with some of Tanzania’s most dramatic landscapes. Enduimet is particularly known for its exceptional location at the foot of two of Africa’s most iconic mountains: Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

The Area
The landscape in Masailand is both varied and beautiful. The habitats range from open plains and dry woodland to acacia bush country and lush mountain forests. This great diversity creates an exciting and varied hunting experience, where each day may bring new terrain and new impressions.

The area is also ideal for non-hunting guests. With its impressive scenery, rich birdlife and strong populations of game, Masailand offers excellent opportunities for an exclusive photographic safari away from the crowds often found in the nearby National Parks.

Climate
Masailand has a warm, semi-arid climate, which plays an important role when planning a hunting safari. The best period for hunting is generally from late April to early July. During this time, the landscape is greener, the skies are often clear, and the game typically gathers around available water sources. The mornings and evenings are usually cooler, providing comfortable hunting conditions.

Hunting remains good from July through October, although the area becomes noticeably drier during these months. Temperatures are moderate for Tanzania and vary mainly according to the time of day. Daytime temperatures can reach around 85°F / 29°C, while the average temperature is approximately 70°F / 21°C. Evenings and early mornings are cooler and can drop to around 59°F / 15°C.

When preparing for a safari in Masailand, guests should take the season, travel dates and selected hunting area into account when planning their packing. Clothing and equipment should be adapted to the expected weather conditions during the safari.

Game Species
Kilombero North Safaris is the only company in Tanzania that can offer all Masailand species in one area. The region is known for a wide variety of classic and highly sought-after East African game species.

These include, among others, Robert’s Gazelle, gerenuk, lesser kudu, fringe-eared oryx, Chandler’s Mountain Reedbuck, as well as both Eastern and Western White-bearded Wildebeest. Please see a more detailed list in the price section here on the website.

The combination of varied habitats, strong game populations and iconic Masailand species makes Lake Natron and Enduimet an exceptional destination for hunters seeking a special and authentic hunting experience in Tanzania.
